The Story Behind the Print:
RAF's Squadron Leader Joseph "Joe" Berry remarkably downed 60.5 of Germany's V1 "Doodlebugs," 57 of which were during nighttime operations. Powered by pulse-jet technology, the V1, also known as the "Buzz Bomb," could cruise at 360 miles per hour (580 km per hour) at an average range of over 150 miles (240 km). Commanding a high-speed Hawker Tempest from No. 501 Squadron, Berry's valorous efforts played a pivotal role in safeguarding numerous lives in Britain. While London was the primary target of the nearly 10,000 V1s unleashed against Britain, only a quarter successfully reached their destination.
