Bold Tigers honors the crews and maintainers of the 391st Fighter Squadron and their F-15E Strike Eagles. The aircraft's combination of range, sensors, weapons load and two-person crew has made it one of the U.S. Air Force's principal long-range strike fighters.
The F-15E Relic
The relic comes from avionics-bay hardware removed from F-15E Strike Eagles assigned to the 391st. The trays, holders and fittings had been classified as damaged, out of tolerance or otherwise unserviceable and were released as scrap by the squadron's maintenance organization.

Because the components came from operational squadron aircraft, they connect the artwork not only to the F-15E type but directly to the unit being represented.
The Strike Eagle
Developed from the F-15 air-superiority fighter, the F-15E added a second crew member and systems optimized for deep strike in day, night and adverse weather. It retained formidable air-to-air capability while gaining the ability to deliver a wide range of precision-guided weapons.
Aerial refueling extends the F-15E's ability to conduct long-range strike missions.
The 391st has deployed the Strike Eagle repeatedly for combat operations, making the avionics-bay material a tangible connection to aircraft maintained for demanding operational service.
