From the Workshop of Artist Craig Tinder - Appreciate the art, learn the story, feel the history

This is a unique opportunity to own an actual relic of a Tiger I Tank (track link ring) that was retrieved from the property of a local farmer who witnessed the “Vistula-Oder Operation”. This relic was acquired directly from the source and has NEVER been in collectors’ circulation.

This 8” x 10” (20 x 25 cm) historical plaque combines this rare artifact, along with the story of the piece, and a beautifully detailed, engraved illustration created by artist Craig Tinder.

One of Germany’s top scoring panzer aces of World War II, Michael Wittman was credited with the destruction of 138 tanks and 132 anti-tank guns. On June 13, 1944, one week after the Normandy landings, alone in his Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger I, Wittman ambushed leading elements of the British 7th Armoured Division. Breaking out of cover behind the British column, Wittman single-handedly destroyed 14 tanks, 14 transport vehicles, and 2 anti-tank guns within 15 minutes, before his tank was finally disabled by the British. Michael Wittman was killed in combat on August 8, 1944 in a British ambush.

In January of 1945, German schwere Panzer-Abetilung 507 (Heavy Tank Battalion 507) participated in “Vistula-Oder Operation” to hold back the advancing Soviet Army. By January 19, 1945, S.Pz.-Abt. 507 was overwhelmed and lost 41 Tiger tanks within two weeks.

This Tiger I track pin ring is an original from S.Pz.-Abt. 507 and was retrieved on the property owned by a local farmer who witnessed the battle.
