Oberfeldwebel Heinz Arnold was a distinguished Luftwaffe pilot with 49 aerial victories to his credit. Initially serving with Jadgeschwader 5 (JG 5) on the Eastern Front, Arnold would claim 42 victories including 5 four-engine bobers. In March 1945, Arnold was transferred to 11/Jadgeschwader 7 (JG 7) to fly the new Messerschmitt Me 262 fighter jet.

Arnold would claim another 7 victories in his Me 262 A-1a (Werknummer 500491) known as "Yellow 7". However, on April 17, 1945, while "Yellow 7" was grounded for service repairs, Arnold commanded another aircraft and was shot down by a P-51 Mustang near Großebersdorf, Germany.

Due to the advancement in jet technology at the end of the war, the Messerschmitt Me 262 had direct influence on future jet aircraft development and to a lesser-extent, spacecraft design. The fine art print "To the Moon" underscores the relationship of this technological influence and the human spirit of exploration.

Yellow 7" was captured at the end of World War II and is now on display at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C.
