WWII US NAVY SILVER KNIFE "Eagle" FROM OFFICERS MESS

Specifications

  • Heavy silver plate/stainless steel dinner knife pattern by INSICO division of International Silver for the United States Navy Officers Mess. Incised U.S.N. on one side of the handle. These have been continuously supplied to the USN since 1888. Likely these are from WWII or earlier.
  • Stainless steel blades.
  • This is the official flatware/silverware of the United States Navy. It has been since the 19th century, and since before this maker even existed.

  • The emblem on the front denoted the rank of the officers' mess the piece belonged in.

  • These are silver plated over copper (another intrinsically valuable metal).
